In a troubling development before of Tottenham’s match against Luton Town, Richarlison has told the Brazilian media that he is still not fully fit.
Richarlison missed Tottenham’s matches against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa earlier this month due to a knee injury, but he returned against Fulham before of the international break, going on as a substitute in the dying minutes of the game.
During the international break, the striker did not appear in Brazil‘s friendly against Spain or England.
Spurs’ Richarlison is still not totally fit.
Following the Selecao’s draw with Spain, Richarlison talked to the media and explained why he did not play in either game.
The Tottenham player told UOL: “I spoke with the manager.” He recognised that I am not 100% fit. I’ve been feeling my knee a little. Even with the daily effort, I felt it. I’m pleased with the team’s performance, however. We grew a lot during the two games, and now I’ll recover well.”
According to UOL, despite Richarlison’s lack of selection against Spain and Brazil, Brazil manager Dorival Junior values him highly.
Dorival is claimed to be satisfied with the 26-year-old’s ‘dedication’ to the national squad, with the player reportedly making a ‘tremendous effort’ to be involved following his most recent setback.
According to the publication, the staff also appreciates Richarlison’s ability to assist the team’s younger players.
While Postecoglou will be glad that Richarlison did not play during the international break, the Australian is unlikely to risk starting the Brazilian against Luton if he is not fully fit. So Son will most likely lead the queue again.
