Liverpool news: Pep Guardiola admits championship competition, as Roy Keane raises management worries.

Liverpool now lead the Premier League by two points, with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola increasing the pressure on Jurgen Klopp’s team.

Liverpool has regained control of the Premier League title race following a victory against Brighton and Manchester City’s draw with Arsenal.

With nine games remaining in the season, the Reds lead the division by two points.

With time running out for his side to catch Jurgen Klopp‘s side, Pep Guardiola has selected his Liverpool favourites.

Guardiola‘s side were frustrated in their match against Arsenal, and the Spaniard said his club faces a tough task.

His prediction comes as Klopp demands that his team maintain their foot on the accelerator in the latter parts of the season.

And, with Xabi Alonso ruling himself out of succeeding Klopp, Roy Keane has cast doubt on Liverpool’s likely alternative. Mirror Football brings you all the latest Liverpool news.

Guardiola makes title prediction.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has reiterated that the Premier League championship is Liverpool‘s to lose after their match against Arsenal ended in a draw.

The Reds are now three points ahead of City in the table.

When asked if Liverpool were now favourites to win the title, Guardiola replied, “Yes.” First is usually the favourite, second is Arsenal, and we are third.

It is not in our hands. Aston Villa is the next game, so aim to win. It’s simple.

“We get the point. We tried. We did not generate much, and neither did they.

They guarded compactly while maintaining a high level of skill and physicality. As a group, we’re still there.”

Jurgen Klopp has requested that Liverpool go unbeaten in their final nine games of the season.

The Reds are presently atop the table after defeating Brighton at Anfield on Sunday.

“That’s the first of the last ten games; let’s keep going. We deserved to win the game.

We simply need to win our games and see where we wind up.

“We dominated them like we never have before,” Klopp stated.

“It was a difficult game, with a strong performance and a terrific outcome.

It’s a fantastic scenario the boys have put us in; we’re there with two other clubs competing for the highest trophy in English football, and we’re going to try to enjoy it.”

Roy Keane has questioned Roberto De Zerbi‘s ability to replace Klopp at Liverpool, citing his lack of managerial success.

De Zerbi has risen to prominence after Xabi Alonso withdrew, but Keane is unsure he is the right man.

“Every manager is unique; he has his own personality, and that’s a big plus for him,” Keane told Sky Sports.

“Sometimes when a manager is asked these questions you hope he makes a commitment to the club, I suppose there’s a bit of honesty there and he’s not sure where his future is.

Brighton is concerned about what they are planned in the coming months and years.

I look at his CV and wonder if he is ready for that next step; for Liverpool, I have my reservations.

His teams play a great kind of football, but I’m still not certain he’s qualified for the position.”
