Harry Kane experiences a new Bayern nightmare as the terrible Tottenham reality becomes obvious

Tottenham’s former striker Harry Kane had a rough afternoon ahead of facing Arsenal in the Champions League.

Harry Kane, who joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham, has been given yet another setback during his debut season. In quest of trophies, Kane travelled to Germany for a new challenge, but he has experienced a dreadful season despite continuing to reach tremendous heights on an individual level.

In Saturday’s league match against FC Heidenheim, Kane scored his 38th goal of the season in all competitions, but it was in vain. Despite leading 2-0 at halftime, Bayern gave up their lead in just two minutes, with the hosts scoring the victory in the final 15 minutes.

Prior to the surprising defeat, Bayern was already 13 points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen, which increased to 16 after the latter’s victory over Union Berlin. That means Xabi Alonso’s team may clinch the league title next weekend, sandwiched between Bayern’s Champions League quarter-finals against Arsenal.

Kane will return to north London on Tuesday evening, but not to his beloved team, as Bayern go to Emirates Stadium for a Champions League quarter-final. The Gunners’ elimination of the former Tottenham star’s current squad would undoubtedly be the final nail in the coffin of a dismal season by Bayern’s standards, as well as Kane’s worst nightmare.

Following the shocking defeat on Saturday, Kane appeared perplexed by what he had experienced, his deadpan countenance telling. Perhaps it is finally dawning on him the gravity of his decision to leave Tottenham, his boyhood club, and tarnish his reputation, at least to some, in search of glory.

Spurs now have an attack-minded manager in Ange Postecoglou, and Kane would surely have thrived under him. Instead, Son Heung-min has become Tottenham’s talisman, with the captain’s armband adding additional responsibility to his game.
