Leeds United forward Crysencio Summerville won the Championship’s Player of the Season title at the EFL Awards on Sunday evening, after playing for the Whites during the 2023-24 season.
Summerville, 22, has scored 27 goals in 43 games for Leeds during our campaign for automatic promotion, beating out Georginio Rutter, Kieran Dewsbury-Hall, and Sammie Szmodics.
His form has been tremendous, making him practically unplayable against Championship opponents at times.
Leeds must maintain that form in the final three games of the season, as a spot in the top two is on the line.
Earlier this season, Ross McCormack stated Summerville was the finest player in the Championship. Watford manager Tom Cleverley said the same thing after Summerville curled one into the top corner against his team.
Crysencio Summerville posted on Instagram after earning an award.
Now he has an award to match. On Sunday, Summerville picked up the gong.
Archie Gray was named the Young Player of the Season. Summerville, Ethan Ampadu, and Georgi Rutter make up the season’s best team.
Summerville took to Instagram to express his happiness at being named the League’s top player for 2023-24. Hopefully, this boosts the Dutch U21 player’s confidence. What Ipswich and Everton players have said about Leeds’
Summerville
Summerville has been absolutely outstanding this season, and the pocket-sized attacker deserves to be promoted at the conclusion of the season. However, with only three games remaining, Leeds is facing a difficult situation.
Leeds sit third in the table, one point behind Leicester and two behind Ipswich, with Leicester having a game in hand. Gary Lineker said that “nobody” wanted to be promoted recently, citing the crazy results.
It would be a disgrace if Summerville and Gray won such honors, but Leeds failed to advance and secure Daniel Farke’s third promotion from the Championship. Three crucial games ahead to make it matter.
For the time being, Summerville will enjoy his peers’ praise. Ipswich’s Omari Hutchinson put aside the antagonism that comes with a title race to laud Summerville, writing “player” on Instagram.
Everton star Amadou Onana also commented, stating that Summerville’s medal was “deserved”.
