Tottenham apparently want to sign a player that Julian Nagelsmann describes as a ‘fantastic talent’

Tottenham Hotspur are apparently interested in signing a player described by Julian Nagelsmann as a ‘big talent’ this summer.

Spurs have a lot of work to do this summer as they continue to shape their team in Ange Postecoglou‘s image.

The Australian manager remains in with a chance of winning Champions League football in his debut season, but Tottenham face a difficult schedule.

Indeed, Spurs will play Arsenal next weekend before visiting Stamford Bridge and Anfield the following week.

Dani Olmo

Postecoglou is sure that he wants to compete at the top of the table next season, whether or not he plays in the Champions League.

The newest guy to emerge as a Spurs target would be an intriguing addition to the Australian side.

Tottenham want  a ‘fantastic talent’- Nagelsmann

Before Postecoglou joined Spurs last summer, Julian Nagelsmann was extensively linked with a move to north London.

According to reports, the German boss declined an interview for the Tottenham post.

Of course, Nagelsmann has since taken over the German national team, while Postecoglou has impressed in his first season at Tottenham.

Spurs are reportedly interested in Dani Olmo, a player who previously worked under Nagelsmann, as the former Celtic manager seeks to strengthen his attacking options.

Postecoglou is said to have selected Olmo as a summer target owing to his compatibility with his team’s style of play.

What Nagelsmann remarked about Olmo

Olmo worked under Nagelsmann at RB Leipzig, and it’s safe to say the former Bayern Munich manager is a big fan of the Spaniard.

Nagelsmann praised Olmo’s versatility when he scored his first brace for the German club in June 2020.

“That’s his favourite position,” he told beIN SPORTS. “We put him there so he’s more likely to score than in the previous few weeks, when he had more defensive responsibilities, which he handled well but didn’t get in front of the goal as much.

Dani Olmo

“Today, he was good in the box multiple times and even scored his third goal with his foot in the second half, with a free finish from 11, 12 metres.

“I was quite satisfied with him. He becomes increasingly adaptable. He’s a wonderful talent and a top man who wants to learn, who has the required modesty but also ambition and self-confidence, and who occasionally speaks out and says he wants to play.

“He wants to be given a chance. I like it. He possesses the essential cheekiness and humility to develop. He’s developing into a guy for our future who will play a lot of terrific games.”

Dani Olmo

Olmo has had a decent season in Leipzig, scoring eight goals and providing five assists in 22 games.

The 25-year-old No. 10 is an extremely versatile player who can play anywhere in the front line.

Tottenham’s interest is understandable given that he is the type of player who may thrive under Postecoglou.
