Kane left Tottenham for Bayern Munich less than a year ago, but his goals were unable to secure a 12th consecutive Bundesliga title.
Stan Collymore, a former Liverpool and England striker, says Harry Kane “wants to come home” less than a year after leaving Tottenham to join Bayern Munich.
Kane has been in prolific form in his first season at Bayern, scoring 33 goals in 30 Bundesliga games (and seven in ten in the Champions League), but his wait for a league title must continue after Bayer Leverkusen won the German championship last weekend, ending Bayern‘s 11-year reign.
In his column for Caught Offside, Collymore said: “So the Kane jinx continues to strike in Munich as [Leverkusen] win the title, which leaves the question: will Bayern look to cash in on Harry’s super individual season, potentially after a good [Euro 2024], to [one of] several clubs who arguably need his services, or does he stay, juke it out again next season and wrestle the Bundesliga back?”
The “jinx” that Collymore refers to is Kane‘s lack of silverware throughout his career, with Spurs‘ last prize, the 2007/08 League Cup, arriving many years before he made his professional debut.
Collymore went even further, claiming: “I believe he secretly wants to return to England, and if you were Manchester United, maybe with a new manager and ownership, signing Kane would indicate cache and intent.
“Chelsea may also use his expertise, as well as his objectives, to help the young puppies. I thought early this season that he should stay and fight [Leverkusen] for the title next season, but I’m especially looking forward to Kane joining Chelsea.”
