As an analyst reveals Son plan; Tottenham leads the battle to find a replacement for Harry Kane.

Tottenham must sign a replacement for Harry Kane when the transfer market opens, as Richarlison and Son Heung-min will not split the difference.

Speaking on the latest episode of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Paul Robinson indicated that Spurs will want to acquire a new striker to replace Kane this summer, following a season without an out-and-out number nine.

Richarlison and Son have been the favoured alternatives through the centre, but Robinson believes the former hasn’t done enough, while the latter is better off the left side.
According to Football Insider, Spurs are presently ahead of West Ham in the fight to recruit Ivan Toney from Brentford, as he fits that template.

According to insiders, Ange Postecoglou will oversee a massive clearout this summer, with Richarlison on the list, to earn funds for reinvestment.

Kane’s departure left a gaping vacuum that Tottenham were never able to fill, despite Son’s 17 goals this season.

Robinson appraised the club’s transfer strategy, identifying a centre-forward as one of the most significant goals.

“They’ll have to decide whether they need a number nine. “They have Richarlison, but he hasn’t done it, and he doesn’t have the numbers,” he told Football Insider.

“They have wide players who can play as nine.

“Son has done an excellent job there; he has scored the goals and carried the can this season, but he is a far superior player on the left side.

“Do they need to replace Harry Kane?

“The squad does need strengthening this summer.”
