In order to help Ange Postecoglou lead Tottenham to the top of the Premier League standings, the team plans to bolster every aspect of its roster in the summer.

Spurs‘ season has been uneven; while supporters have appreciated Postecoglou’s approach, the squad has ultimately fallen short of their goal of qualifying for the Champions League.

In a recent interview, the manager acknowledged that if Tottenham wants to compete at the top level, significant roster adjustments will need to be done.

“I need to make changes to this team,” Postecoglou declared. “I have to, as I need to assemble a team that I believe is capable of playing our football.

Tottenham’s priority for the forthcoming transfer window is to sign a new centre defender. Radu Dragusin has struggled since his departure from Genoa, and Postecoglou wants more competition for Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

Spurs are also looking for a left-back in the wake of Destiny Udogie’s poor play, and signing Torino star Alessandro Buongiorno might help them achieve both goals at once.

Tottenham have identified the 24-year-old as a target, and he can play in both positions, with a move to the Premier League seeming imminent.

According to recent Italian rumours, Tottenham is one of the clubs interested in signing Buongiorno.

Meanwhile, the defender has thrown a strong indication that he may be headed to England in the coming weeks. “The Premier League is a league that particularly appeals to me because there are very strong teams and players, with whom I can continue to work and grow,” Buongiorno stated in an earlier interview.

“However, I also feel good in Italy, so we will see what choices to make in the future.”

Buongiorno has made 27 Serie A appearances this season, helping Torino keep 15 clean sheets while scoring three goals.

The 24-year-old is anticipated to develop as he gains experience, and his performances have piqued the interest of Arsenal and Chelsea.

Tottenham are the apparent favourites to get him, but they will have to pay a big transfer fee.

Torino is said to value him at roughly £35 million, so it will be intriguing to see how high Spurs will go with an offer.
