Daniel Levy laughing as Chelsea beat Tottenham in jaw-dropping numbers

Daniel Levy will be laughing all the way to the bank after discovering Tottenham are second in the Premier League’s matchday revenue league.

According to the most recent numbers from the 2022-23 season, given by finance expert Kieran Maguire on X [19 May], Spurs are just slightly behind Chelsea.

Tottenham earned £1,911 per fan during the campaign, just one pound less than Chelsea.

Manchester United fall down the matchday revenue list.

Manchester United, which has previously topped this list, finished third with £1,848, followed by Arsenal (£1,705) and Liverpool (£1,504).

For reference, Nottingham Forest, at the bottom of this ranking, earned only £379 per supporter.

The massive increase in capacity since moving to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the main reason Spurs are now consistently in the top tier of this list.

However, matchgoers will not be pleased because they are the ones who pay exorbitant prices for food, drink, and tickets.

Tottenham matchday revenue data in full.

Spurs earned £70.78 per supporter, according to Maguire’s figures for each match. That is a drop from the £71.23 in 2021-22.
The change, however, is slight, as Tottenham and Chelsea remain the favourites to beat in this category.

What should be noted is that Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge has a capacity of approximately 20,000 fewer than Spurs’ ground, indicating that they are truly fleecing fans.

These data, combined with reports of additional entertainment events at the stadium, indicate that Levy is likely contributing to revenue generation.

Indeed, the club is anticipated to earn between £1.5 million and £2 million from these types of events.

Finally, what supporters worry about is that this money is returned back into the squad for what should be a great 2024-25 campaign.

In other Tottenham news, Fabrizio Romano has projected what could happen at the club this summer.
