“Outstanding” £20 million target Leeds United is what Enzo Maresca wants to sign

In the next few hours and days, Enzo Maresca is anticipated to make the audacious decision to join Chelsea instead of the recently promoted Leicester City, and he has his eye on a Leeds United target as his first acquisition.

While Kieran McKenna has chosen to stay and sign a contract at Ipswich,, but Italian manager Maresca has decided to take a risk and quit the King Power following Leicester‘s promotion in order to take over as manager from Mauricio Pochettino.
Daniel Farke, meantime, is getting ready for another season in The Championship following his defeat by Southampton at Wembley in the play-off final. This summer, the Whites plan to let go of a number of important players.

They will need to be replaced, and Farke’s team still has to reinforce in a crucial position—the no. 10 position. Leeds made an attempt but failed.

James McAtee, a 21-year-old who excelled while on loan at Sheffield United for the previous two seasons from parent club Manchester City, is the next player the Whites are being connected to.

Leeds and Chelsea both desire James McAtee, but so does Enzo Maresca.
According to the report, Leeds and Southampton are interested in the highly skilled McAtee, if they can afford to pay the needed £20 million. Leeds is no longer the only team expressing interest in the England U21 player.

In fact, The Sun on Sunday (page 61, 02/06/2024) reports that Maresca had planned a £20 million bid to entice McAtee to Leicester, but those plans were scrapped due to McAtee’s impending move to Chelsea.
