View- Imagine him and Madison: Spurs may give Ange his own Trossard in £60 million “superstar”

The highly talented attacker could help the Lilywhites advance next season.

The transfer season officially started yesterday, and while it is still early, Premier League clubs, like Tottenham Hotspur, will be working hard to bring in the best players they can while selling those who are no longer needed.

The Lilywhites had a very successful first season under Ange Postecoglou, as the Australian guided them to Europa League qualification, but their failure to retain a Champions League spot was disappointing.

So it’s predictable that the newest player linked with a move to N17 might provide the attacking thrust the team requires while also forming a fantastic relationship with James Maddison – and he’s been compared to Arsenal’s free-scoring Leandro Trossard.

Tottenham Hotspur Transfer News

On the most recent Sky Sports Transfer Talk Podcast edition, journalist Pete Graves stated that Tottenham is one of several clubs interested in signing Crystal Palace‘s Eberechi Eze this summer.

Graves names Manchester United, Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Manchester City among clubs interested in signing the Englishman in the coming weeks.

While the level of interest in the brilliant international is far from ideal, Daniel Levy and Co are at least aware of how much the Eagles want for the player, as a BBC Sport report in April indicated he is valued at £60 million.

It would be a costly and complicated transaction to accomplish, but if Spurs want to grow under Postecoglou next season, signing a player like Eze would be a great place to start, and he could establish a fantastic relationship with Maddison.

Why Eze would be an excellent partner for Maddison.

Now, before we get into why Eze would be an excellent teammate for Maddison, let’s talk about the similarities to Trossard, which arise primarily from FBref.

They analyse Europe’s top five leagues and identify the ten most comparable players for each. According to the Palace ace, the Belgian is the eighth most comparable offensive midfielder and winger.

Their parallels are best demonstrated by various underlying data, including their non-penalty expected goal and assist statistics, actual goals and assists, progressive passes, shots, attempted passes, tackles, goal-creating actions, and even the amount of times they are dispossessed, all per 90.

However, one thing the Englishman has in common with the Arsenal player is his adaptability, which is one of the reasons he might make an excellent relationship with the former Leicester City star in N17.

The Greenwich-born jewel, like the Gunners’ star, can start in a variety of positions, including wing, left midfield, offensive midfield, central midfield, and even centre forward. His ability to thrive in many areas of the game might make him the ideal facilitator for Maddison, occasionally finishing his chances and sometimes creating them himself.

This gets us to the second reason he’d be an excellent teammate: his performance.

In just 31 games this season, the 25-year-old “superstar,” as statistics analyst Ben Mattinson dubbed him, has 11 goals and six assists, averaging a goal per 1.8 games for the Eagles.

This amazing output outperforms the Spurs player, who scored four goals and gave nine assists in 30 games, equating to a goal involvement every 2.3 games.

Finally, Levy and co. should do everything they can to sign Eze this summer because his versatility and output could be the difference for Tottenham next season, and if he has a season like Trossard, Champions League qualification may be the bare minimum for Postecoglou’s North Londoners.
