Leeds United are attempting to sign Nat Phillips, a 26-year-old Liverpool centre-back, before the transfer market closes.
According to Rudy Galetti, Leeds United are interested in signing Nat Phillips and have held negotiations with Liverpool about a possible transfer. The talks between the two clubs are nearing completion, and an agreement might be reached soon.
Leeds hasn’t had the best of luck recently. They struggled throughout the 2022-23 season and were demoted to England’s second level. The relegation to the Championship has resulted in a significant financial setback, and several of their players have departed the club on a temporary basis due to a relegation clause.
Maximilian Wöber is one of the players who has departed the back after only six months with the club. In the winter of 2023, the 25-year-old Austrian center-back joined them from RB Salzburg. Leeds were struggling defensively and needed reinforcement to stay in the Premier League.
They were able to land the Austrian international but were still unable to prevent the plunge. They are in desperate need of a new centre-back after the 25-year-old left on a season-long loan to Borussia Mönchengladbach. They are also interested in Liverpool‘s Nat Phillips, who has a similar profile.
The Merseyside club signed the 26-year-old centre-back in 2016. He has since risen through the ranks of the club and is now a member of their first team. Phillips has had numerous loan movements over the years.
However, he was with the club last season but only played in five games and played for just over 200 minutes. The 26-year-old has seen little game action this season, and that seems unlikely to change. As a result, leaving the club could benefit their case.
The Merseyside club is currently looking for a new center-back and is willing to let go of the Englishman. They have been in talks with Leeds, and an agreement could be reached soon. While some specifics are still being worked out, the transaction is believed to be for £10 million plus add-ons.
