To acquire Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur will need to shell out a lot of cash.
In Ange Postecoglou’s debut season with the team, Spurs had a lot of promise. Despite a disastrous finish that saw them win just two of their final seven Premier League games, there were plenty of encouraging signs.
Spurs supporters anticipate that their team will have much more success in 2024–2025; Timo Werner and Archie Gray have already been signed.
Aston Villa star Ramsey is rumored to be on Postecoglou’s team’s wishlist. That maneuver is not simple, though.
Compared to Jacob Ramsey, Tottenham has “stronger chance” of signing Lois Openda and two more players.
Ramsey has been connected for a while to a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
One of the most gifted players at Aston Villa, the adaptable Englishman had an extremely challenging 2023–24 season because of injuries.
Tottenham’s interest in Ramsey hasn’t diminished despite the fact that he was only able to make 10 starts across all competitions.
In June, Tottenham made a proposal of £20 million plus Giovani Lo Celso to sign Ramsey, but Villa swiftly turned down the offer.
Spurs are still interested in the 23-year-old, and Ben Jacobs provided an update on the issue.
The journalist revealed that Aston Villa does not want to lose Ramsey this summer. So, only a substantial bid from Tottenham, with or without Lo Celso, will be enough to close the deal.
That is why Jacobs has stated that Tottenham’s prospects of signing three more quality players – Wolves’ Pedro Neto, Lille’s Jonathan David, and RB Leipzig’s Lois Openda – are significantly better.
Jacobs told GiveMeSport: “Tottenham are still looking into whether Ramsey is a possibility, but Villa don’t want to lose him, so they’ll either have to pay a high price for him, with or without Lo Celso, or move on.
“And it’s possible that they have a better chance of landing other players, like Jonathan David of Lille, Lois Openda of Leipzig, and Pedro Neto of Wolves, who plays in a slightly different position.”
What Tottenham will gain from Openda.
Openda is all about objectives—goals, goals, and more goals.
Tottenham still lacks an upfront replacement for Harry Kane. Although Richarlison and Heung-min Son have been splitting up the line-leading duties, it’s past time they brought in a new striker.
Openda has been connected to a transfer to Tottenham, and we believe Postecoglou’s system would benefit greatly from having him.
In the 2023–24 season, the 24-year-old scored 28 goals in all competitions, which is more than any other Tottenham player.
Openda has also been prolific in past seasons. He has scored more than 20 goals in every season since the start of the 2021/22 season. He contributed directly to 18 goals the previous season.
That is a tremendous return, and if Spurs can get him, we believe he would lead the team to new heights under Postecoglou.
