Shakhtar Donetsk has sought Tottenham for £5.6 million in compensation for Manor Solomon.

Shakhtar Donetsk has requested Tottenham for £5.6 million in compensation for Manor Solomon, who was allowed to join Ange Postecoglou‘s squad on a free transfer thanks to a FIFA judgement.

Despite being under contract at his old club, the Israeli attacker spent last season on loan at Fulham and was allowed to complete a free transfer to Spurs.

The transaction was made possible by a FIFA regulation that permits any player under contract with a Ukrainian club to extend their contracts for another year.

The Annex 7 clause allowed Solomon to extend his contract over its December 31 expiry date and join as a free agent.

Shakhtar sought to appeal the ruling at the time and is now seeking £5.6 million in compensation for the 24-year-old.

The two teams are seeking to reach an agreement on an acceptable cost, and discussions took place at a meeting between the Ukrainian side’s CEO Sergei Palkin and Spurs‘ director of football administration and governance Rebecca Caplehorn.

Shakhtar would want a financial settlement, whilst Spurs would like a sell-on fee if they chose to transfer Solomon in the future.

While in America, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy was not participating in conversations.

Meanwhile, Solomon came off the bench in Sunday’s 5-1 pre-season win over his previous club, giving Ange Postecoglou’s team confidence ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Harry Kane stole the show with a four-goal haul and got a standing ovation from the home fans.

Bayern Munich is still interested in signing Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who has been listed as Thomas Tuchel‘s top transfer target.

Tottenham begin their Premier League season next Saturday when they travel to Brentford.
