After signing a Nottingham Forest player on loan; the EFL boss believes he has ‘very uncommon’ attributes.

Nottingham Forest allowed Esapa Osong to join League One team Rotherham United on a season-long loan on Friday.

Steve Evans has high aspirations for his second season with the Millers, and he has signed a number of promising third-tier players this summer.

Osong is an intriguing potential for Rotherham, despite his lack of men’s football experience. Nothing against the skilled forward, but he was supposed to go on loan this summer to a team in worse shape than Rotherham.

The Millers have high hopes of returning to the Championship, so this signing of Forest star Osong appears to be a good decision.

After the outstanding youngster checked in at the club, Evans revealed how long he has been pursuing him and why he chose to take him to the New York Stadium.

Steve Evans spoke about Forest’s Esapa Osong.

Rotherham has given the 19-year-old a golden opportunity, which he will try to seize.

After driving him to South Yorkshire, Evans revealed how long he has been pursuing the academy graduate.

He’s also explained why he signed him and what he believes would be his best qualities on the field.

He told the club’s official website: “I’d want to thank Nottingham Forest, particularly Nuno Espirito Santo and Ross Wilson, for assisting us in signing such a highly regarded player as Esapa Osong. This has been a three-month process and we have had to show great patience but it will be worth the hard work put in, a striker who scores a goal is hard to get at any time and one who works so hard for the team is very rare, we have that with Esapa.”

Esapa Osong has a promising future at Forest.

Last season, the striker scored key goals for the City Ground’s under-18 and under-21 squads, as well as the B-Team. He was instrumental in helping the Reds reach the FA Youth Cup final in 2021/22, where they were defeated by Manchester United.

Osong is quick, powerful, and has a good eye for goal, which will benefit Rotherham this season.

Osong’s challenge will be to demonstrate his ability to quickly catch up and play men’s football on a consistent basis. If he can do that, he might have a very successful season, scoring a lot of goals and returning to Forest as a more well-rounded player than when he left.
