Nottingham Forest want to sign striker who Pep Guardiola described as ‘amazing’ on a free transfer.

From a Nottingham Forest standpoint, there will be a lot of transfer rumors swirling about; some will be true, while others will not.

So far, the Reds have signed five players, one of whom, Marko Stamenic, has been loaned out to Olympiacos immediately.
Forest still have several openings in their team to address, and the off-season will not be over just yet. This means that some idle links will continue to emerge, such as one that circulated yesterday but makes little sense.

Nottingham Forest linked with Kelechi Iheanacho again.

According to Soccernet, Forest and Ipswich will duke it out to sign the Nigerian free agent.

Iheanacho spent seven years with Leicester, scoring 61 goals in 232 games after joining from Manchester City, he won several trophies with the Citizens, but never won the Premier League, and scored 21 goals in 64 appearances. He is now a free agent, and he has been linked with a move to Forest several times since the club’s return to the Premier League.

Brendan Rodgers is a major supporter of the striker, describing him as ‘amazing’ while managing him at Leicester five years ago. If that wasn’t enough, Pep Guardiola praised him as ‘amazing’ while managing him at Manchester City, despite allowing him to depart.

It would not make much sense for Forest to sign Iheanacho.

Although Iheanacho has enough of Premier League experience, it doesn’t make sense for Forest to wait this long to recruit him.

Given that he is a free agent, if the club actually wanted him to be a member of Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad, they would have signed him by now. Instead, he remains without a club and is currently conducting pre-season training on his own while waiting for the phone to ring.

The 27-year-old’s performance last season was also not very outstanding. Despite Leicester’s domination in the Championship, Iheanacho managed only six goals and three assists in 26 games.

While Iheanacho isn’t a horrible player, we don’t think he’s the ideal fit for Forest, and better strikers are now available.
