Harry Kane failed to lead England to their first European title in Germany this summer and is expected to face even more disappointment when he returns to club Bayern Munich.
Harry Kane will miss an emotional reunion with his previous club Tottenham Hotspur following his Euro 2024 disappointment. The striker spent the entire summer with England, which reached the final earlier this month. The Three Lions eventually lost against Spain in Berlin.
Kane scored three goals during the competition, although his performances were questioned by fans and commentators. His uneven performances came after missing the final few weeks of last season for Bayern Munich due to a back issue.
Kane’s summer exploits have earned him an extended sabbatical. As a result, he will be unable to play in Bayern’s pre-season friendly against Spurs in South Korea on August 3.
Bayern manager Vincent Kompany confirmed: “Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano, and Kingsley Coman won’t be there, but hopefully for the first cup game.” He continued: “I’ve already spoken to the players, but I also want to leave them in peace while they’re on holiday.”
Fortunately, Kane will get another chance to face his former side this summer. Bayern face Spurs just a week later in what will most likely be an even more passionate match. On August 10, the Germans will head to North London for another preseason match in the Visit Malta Cup.
Kane, 30, came up via Tottenham’s system. During his career with the club, he scored 280 goals and became the club’s all-time leading scorer. The striker backed it up with 44 goals in 45 games during his debut season with Bayern. He won’t be the only one reuniting with Spurs this summer.
Eric Dier will also return to his former team. He spent eleven years at the club before joining the German giants on loan, which was later made permanent.
