After an exceptional season that nearly saw Daniel Farke’s team promoted back to the Premier League, the gifted young player left Leeds United this summer. Gray was sold this summer to help balance the budget at Elland Road after the team lost the play-off final, albeit his move to North London helped the team financially.

The 18-year-old youngster was first believed to be leaving for Brentford after reaching a personal terms agreement with the Premier League team. But Gray went with another side headquartered in London, and after long talks with Ange Postecoglou, an agreement was reached with the Liliywhites.

Gray recently acknowledged to Football London that his father Andy had a significant impact on the decision to move to Tottenham, stressing that the club’s stature and infrastructure were only two benefits of the transfer. Gray’s grandfather concurred as well, and in the end, the family’s position on joining the Spurs assisted the adolescent in making his choice.

Gray remarked, “My dad also mentioned that it’s a big club.” One morning, he came to my room and told me, ‘Look, you have to go to Spurs. It’s a huge club. My grandfather also mentioned this; he has obviously had a successful career. He stated that eventually one must join one of the major English clubs, and he believes that Spurs is a huge club and that this is the appropriate time.
