Days after leaving Leeds United: the new recruit impresses the manager to a great degree.

Cody Drameh’s tenure at Elland Road came to an end this summer, and Leeds United jumped at the chance to recruit a new right defender.

For Leeds United, right back has been a trouble spot recently.

Luke Ayling’s tenure as the team’s first-choice right defender concluded last season, and he departed.

The Tottenham Hotspur loan for Djed Spence did not work out, and the Burnley loan for Connor Roberts did not result in his retention.

Archie Gray, who was sold to Tottenham, played right back for the majority of the season. Rasmus Kristensen, a Danish international, just joined Eintracht Frankfurt as well, so right back has been a changing position at Elland Road.

For a while though, many thought Cody Drameh could emerge as the long-term right back for Leeds.

The 22-year-old joined Leeds from Fulham back in 2020 and showed promise in limited appearances.

Loan spells with Cardiff City and Luton Town should have catapulted Drameh into first-team action at Leeds, but that didn’t happen.

Drameh’s Leeds contract ended last season due to a mixed loan spell with Birmingham City.

Drameh turned down a new contract offer from Leeds in favor of joining Championship team Hull City, only a year after West Ham United expressed interest in him.

Drameh will, strangely, face up against former Leeds player Lewie Coyle for a starting position at right back. Tim Walter, the manager of Hull, praised Drameh’s performance on Saturday when his team played Newcastle United.

Walter revealed in an interview with the Hull Daily Mail that he was a huge fan of Drameh’s performance.

Walter showered admiration on his new signing, Drameh, highlighting both his confidence and style of play. “I really like him, I did.” Walter stated, “I loved him because I like his performance, his confidence, and his style of playing.

Leeds will be haunted by Drameh.

Although Drameh never really succeeded at Leeds, he always had potential there.

It was time for him to go on and look for opportunities elsewhere because there were just no first-team options available to him.

Leeds will have to hope that losing Drameh doesn’t come back to haunt them in the future because Hull obviously thinks he can develop into a major player at the MKM Stadium. However, Drameh will have a short trip back to Elland Road when Hull plays Leeds away on August 31.

Days remain until the rematch in 2025, and Drameh would surely relish a win or two over his old team.
