Five minutes into the match, the Addicks took the lead thanks to a brilliant cross into the box from Hutton after he made a breakaway run up the wing. Mel scores from the center circle during a scuffle, scoring the upper corner and giving Charlton the lead right away.

Former Addick Johnson has Forest’s first opportunity on a counterattack, but his shot misses.

Following a sustained period of Charlton’s passing and possession, the team wins a corner. When the corner reaches Skeels, he places it in Ademiluyi’s path. The forward slides it into the lower corner, doubling the score to 2-0.

Soon after Ademiluyi left the game due to a head injury, the team was left with just 10 players for an extended amount of time.

This time, Johnson crossed the ball into the box and Hutton’s clearance ended up in her own goal, allowing Forest to rally back. The two teams shared possession throughout the second half, with offensive bursts from each side.

As the half progressed, Charlton regained more of the ball thanks to the arrival of substitutes, one of them was Bashford.

Siber and Brazil kept creating chances for the Addicks, but Forest also had opportunities at the other end of the field.

Using some space on the right, Forest hit the back of the net in the last ten minutes of play, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
