Kieran Tierney has been named as West Ham United’s’shock’ replacement for Aaron Cresswell.

Kieran Tierney has been appointed as West Ham United’s’shock’ replacement for Aaron Cresswell.

Tierney would be a direct replacement for the London Stadium veteran, according to the report (7 August), as David Moyes tries to enhance his team with Premier League experience.Cresswell is garnering interest from a number of Premier League clubs, including Wolves and Nottingham Forest (Alan Nixon, 6 August), but the Hammers have met a stumbling block with Tierney still undecided about a move to East London.

Tierney may have been the ideal replacement for Cresswell, who is scheduled to leave West Ham United this summer. With Moyes looking for Premier League experience to add to his squad for next season, Tierney’s leadership traits, present ability, and Premier League experience will have been ideal for the Hammers manager.

With Mikel Arteta preferring Oleksandr Zinchenko at left-back, but also with the defensive addition of Jurrien Timber, who was preferred for Sunday’s Community Shield victory over Manchester City, the Scotland international is bound to face limited opportunities at the Emirates this season.Tierney’s position as a result is a great surprise, and a move to the Hammers may have been the ideal platform and opportunity for him to restore his confidence and earn the regular playing time his talents seek.

The former Celtic man sorely needs a new lease of life abroad, and it remains to be seen whether West Ham United can do enough to get him to come, but if there is any chance of it happening, Moyes will seize it.In other West Ham news, a wanted-again forward is nearing a move to an Italian club, with David Sullivan demanding roughly £10 million to sell.
