Sky Sports: Nottingham Forest is interested in signing an 18-year-old defender before Leeds.

It is now believed that Nottingham Forest, rather than Leeds United, is interested in recruiting a young defender.

Nottingham Forest’s current summer acquisitions.

Owner Evangelos Marinakis has had a busy transfer window at The City Ground, as six new players have already been signed, sealed, and delivered ahead of Nuno Espirito Santo’s first full season in command.

Nottingham Forest summer signings From Fee (Transfermarket)
Elliot Anderson Newcastle United €41.2m
Nikola Milenkovic Fiorentina €14.3m
Jota Silva Vit. Guimaraes €7m
Marko Stamenic Red Star Belgrade €5.5m
Carlos Miguel Corinthians €4m
Eric da Silva Moreira FC St Pauli €1.5m

The most recent addition was forward Jota Silva, who made his debut for the Portuguese National Team in March. Chief Football Officer Ross Wilson said on the team’s official website following the confirmation of a deal: “We can see how excited Jota is to continue his career journey beyond Portugal where he has enjoyed such a strong period in the Primeira Liga with Vitoria Guimaraes.”

While the team works to strengthen their academy ranks, rumors about who might be the next to leave have persisted. According to rumors, Forest has agreed to purchase Dundee United’s 15-year-old goalkeeper Ally Graham, beating rival Newcastle United to the deal.

While Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez is another goal and the club may soon make an offer for the Mexican, Forest also looks to be challenging the Magpies for Fiorentina winger Nico Gonzalez. The Reds appear eager to recruit a fresh, highly sought-after teenage center back, but they might not get their wish.

Bruno Ogbus is of interest to Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest is interested in signing Freiburg defender Bruno Ogbus ahead of Championship team Leeds United, but the German team is unwilling to let go of the 18-year-old center back, according to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg.

As is evident, Ogbus has attracted the attention of AC Milan, who earlier this month made a bid for the Switzerland youth international.

But, Freiburg seems to have sent out a non-binding warning to teams over the defender, so it might be very difficult to finalize a deal this summer. Ogbus, who relocated from Zurich to Freiburg in 2022, has not yet made his debut for the main team; instead, he plays for the reserve squad and U19s. In contrast, Forest has Joe Worrall, Wily Boly, Andrew Omobamidele, Nikola Milenkovic, and Murillo as their five senior center-back possibilities.
