In the Carabao Cup First Round this evening, Leeds United takes on Middlesbrough. Daniel Farke’s Whites team is looking to defeat Michael Carrick’s Teessiders for the first time this season.

Leeds defeated Boro earlier this year in a thrilling match at Riverside Stadium with to goals from Willy Gnonto and Patrick Bamford in a 4-3 victory that included a brace from recently-departed winger Crysencio Summerville.

The 2023–24 Championship season ended with that match, however this evening’s matchup has the two evenly matched teams competing in domestic cup competition.

If after ninety minutes the game tonight ends in a draw, the match will proceed directly to penalties, with the Second Round draw—which is regionalized until the Third Round—occurring after the final siren.
