There may be other newcomers in the defensive makeover besides Micky van de Ven.
Tottenham are still interested in bringing in a new center-back this summer, according to Ange Postecoglou.
This week, the club made official the £43 million acquisition of Dutch U21 international Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg, but they are still looking to add another player from that country.
In an effort to further impose his influence on the Tottenham team, Postecoglou has loaned Joe Rodon to Leeds and put Davinson Sanchez up for sale.
Edmond Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen had drawn interest, but the club is still well short of the German club’s £40 million valuation, and Perr Schuurs of Torino has recently been mentioned as a target.
Ashley Phillips, a highly regarded centre back, was also acquired by Spurs from Blackburn, but the 19-year-old is not yet regarded as a first-team player.
The Tottenham manager said: “Yeah potentially [signing another central defender]” following Tuesday’s defeat to Barcelona.
Again, we must ensure that the team is manageable and monitor departures, but the possibility of adding another player is real.
