Santiago Giménez hasn’t exactly had the greatest of luck or the best of times since turning down a switch to Nottingham Forest.

It’s safe to assume that opinions in the Netherlands were divided, whilst many in England felt Nuno Espirito Santo‘s team was pushing their luck by trying to sign the striker, thinking he was worthy of a perceived bigger club.

If anything, the consensus was that Feyenoord should accept the Nottingham Forest offer, and it was unfortunate that the Mexico international wasn’t more enthusiastic.

He hasn’t scored a goal since turning down Nottingham Forest; his most recent goal was in the middle of August. Despite playing 14 games after, he hasn’t scored for Mexico since July 2023 and failed to do so during the most recent international break.

With lightning speed, Santiago Giménez scored goals all over the Eredivisie in the opening games of the 2022–2023 season.
Although he played in 30 league games and scored an outstanding 20 goals, only five of those came in 2024. The Dutch media has been raving about his poor play for the past six months, so many people there are wishing he had chosen Nottingham Forest.

There’s more awful news now.

Feyenoord announced that the striker would miss three months due to a thigh ailment after he sustained an injury.

Perhaps this is an opportunity for the 23-year-old to start over and regain the form he shown at the beginning of the 2022–2023 season.
