Notwithstanding his past with Hearts’ competitors, Neil Lennon WOULDN’T reject the Hearts position out of hand.
That’s according to John Hartson, who feels his former Celtic teammate would be open minded about taking over at Tynecastle and that his two spells in charge at Parkhead and a successful stay across the capital at Hibs wouldn’t factor into it.
In Gorgie, Lennon was frequently seen as the number one public adversary. During one of his first spells, a furious fan even ran onto the field to confront him. A coin toss was also thrown at him during a goalless Edinburgh derby, which he had been celebrating after the hosts’ goal was disallowed.
Though most Hearts supporters didn’t go to such lengths as they just didn’t like him as a combative, confrontational midfielder in his playing days prior to his move to the dugout, they would undoubtedly be dissatisfied if their team gave Lennon a serious look as a replacement for Steven Naismith.

However, Hartson is certain that the 53-year-old, who was fired by Rapid Bucharest, would view it as a fantastic chance to return to Scottish football with a major team.
According to Hartson, “I don’t think that would bother him too much,” on GO Radio. “His skin is fairly thick. He got Hibs promoted from the Championship to the Premiership, so I know he did a great job there.
