Fabian Hurzeler, the manager of Brighton, has disclosed that despite receiving a red card against Nottingham Forest, he was spared a touchline ban.

Hurzeler’s outraged response to Brighton’s Joao Pedro being tackled by Morgan Gibbs-White made him see red. Speaking on Thursday, he asserts, however, that he has escaped being barred from the touchline as a result of private discussions with PGMOL CEO Howard Webb.
Hurzeler claims that the incident, in which Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo and player Gibbs-White were sent off, will merely result in a fine for him. “I know what the fine will be and I know I will be on the sidelines against Chelsea,” Hurzeler stated ahead of Brighton’s Premier League matchup against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Until I spoke with Howard Webb, I was unsure of the reason behind my red card. Finally, I learned that I was given a red card for entering the field,” he continued.
“Given that this occurs in emotionally charged moments during games, I believe that many coaches should be suspended if a red card is given for it. It was a forceful tackle, and I was defending my player. In this league, I also need to learn how quickly a player may be sent out.”
Hurzeler responded, “The positive thing is they are very open, he listens to me and gives me a clear explanation,” when asked how his conversation with Webb went. We need to treat each other with respect, and Howard and I had a really courteous conversation.”
