Leeds United are thought to be one of several Championship clubs interested in signing West Ham midfielder Flynn Downes this month.
Leeds are preparing for Tyler Adams‘s confirmed departure this week, with a move to Chelsea agreed and set to be finalised for £20 million.
Ethan Ampadu‘s arrival more than lessens the impact of losing the USMNT star, but the team will still require additional fresh recruits.
Flynn Downes heading to Leeds?
Leeds are one of the clubs keeping an eye on West Ham midfielder Flynn Downes this summer, according to Football Insider, with the Irons overhauling their midfield following the sale of Declan Rice.
Downes‘ prospects of starting have been severely harmed by the arrival of Edson Alvarez and the imminent arrival of James Ward-Prowse from Southampton, with Downes having started just seven Premier League games last season.
Who else is interested in signing him?
Leeds have been made aware of the 24-year-old’s potential availability, as have two of their Championship opponents, Middlesbrough and Southampton.
Southampton are now managed by Russell Martin, who was responsible for Downes’ development at Swansea City before he moved to West Ham.

Leeds require someone who can move the ball well, and while Downes appears to be a steady operator in possession, he does not appear to be what we require.
He would be an excellent twin pivot player, but Leeds‘ pivot is more fluid than two players sitting deep and pushing the ball about.
If he is to transfer to the Championship this summer, a reunion with Martin at Southampton would make sense.
