Dujon Sterling may miss Rangers’ game against Kilmarnock on Wednesday, according to Philippe Clement.
The Belgian acknowledged that he has a blocked nerve and would need to visit a specialist about it. He did not play in the 1-0 win against St Johnstone.
However, he declined to clarify whether the 25-year-old will be fit for the game at Ibrox on December 4.
According to the BBC, Clement stated: “Dujon is unlucky since it is not a real injury.
“It’s a clogged nerve, so he needs to see a professional to unblock it and receive therapy, which is why he wasn’t accessible today.
“We’ll see whether he’s available on Wednesday or not. It isn’t a long-term issue, but such things happen.”
Rangers likely to obtain clarity on Dujon Sterling’s injury on Monday.
A specialist may consider more invasive solutions, such as surgery, but this is unlikely given Clement’s statements that it is not a long-term condition.
If Sterling’s condition improves after receiving therapy from the specialist, he may be able to avoid more invasive treatments.
Assuming the nerve issue is successfully resolved, his participation in training on Monday and Tuesday might put him back in contention for the starting lineup on Wednesday.
However, this is heavily dependent on how soon the nerve recovers and whether there are any residual effects from the treatment.
