As defender Francesco Acerbi’s injury problems worsen, Inter Milan may unilaterally end his contract in 2025.
This was reported by FCInterNews in the print version of Gazzetta dello Sport, a newspaper published in Milan, today.
Acerbi‘s current deal with Inter is set to expire at the end of June 2026.
The most recent prolongation for the Italian international was not a big deal.
But the 36-year-old will remain with the Nerazzurri until the conclusion of the upcoming campaign.
That Inter would want Acerbi to stay that long is not shocking. Then again, he was getting old.
One dependable and seasoned member of the Nerazzurri‘s team is Acerbi.
Additionally, it makes sense that Inter would want to maintain a strong and cohesive team in preparation for the next Club World Cup.
Francesco Acerbi’s contract with Inter Milan could be abruptly terminated in 2025.
However, Acerbi has not had an easy season.
The former defender for Lazio and Sassuolo has always performed at a high level when he has taken the field.
However, Acerbi’s availability has become a growing problem.
During his debut season with Inter, the Italian international did not miss any games due to injury.
During the previous campaign, however, there were a few noteworthy stints on the sidelines.
Furthermore, Acerbi’s injury problems are beginning to mount this season.
Following his recuperation from groin surgery, Acerbi missed a significant portion of the summer.
In October, Acerbi suffered a thigh injury after playing for a large portion of the opening few weeks of the season.
Acerbi has been mostly absent ever since. He’s strained his thigh twice.
For Acerbi, the recuperation times are becoming increasingly lengthy. It may be the first signs of his advanced age.
Additionally, Inter has the right to unilaterally end Acerbi’s contract at the end of June 2025.
