Nottingham Forest supporters witnessed their team defeat Tottenham 1-0 in the Premier League, making it the ideal Boxing Day.
Nuno Espirito Santo‘s team moved up to third place in the Premier League standings, surpassing their rivals, Arsenal, in the competition for European football, thanks to Forest’s victory over Tottenham.
In a match that was dominated by the Forest team’s defensive prowess against their free-scoring opponents, Anthony Elanga scored once more for Forest.
Patrick Rowe commended Murillo for his contribution to the Forest defense, which played against elite players like Dominic Solanke and Heung-Min Son at the City Ground.
Brennan Johnson, a former Forest player, was another offensive threat for Spurs, although his new supporters made it apparent that they weren’t particularly pleased with his performance against his old team.
Brennan Johnson’s performance against Forest is criticized by Spurs supporters.
Throughout the game, Spurs supporters took to social media to express their dissatisfaction with Johnson’s play. Johnson is a former Forest Academy alumnus.
“We used to watch Gareth Bale, but now we’re watching Brennan Johnson,” one Spurs supporter stated, while another added, “I’ve said this for a long time, I’ve never rated Brennan Johnson.”
“Watching Brennan Johnson is really, really painful,” remarked another Tottenham supporter. “Brennan Johnson is really not that good,” goes another saying.
More Tottenham supporters expressed their dissatisfaction, with one commenting: “Brennan Johnson doesn’t start for Forest right now by the way,” with another adding: “Tottenham are a much better team when Brennan Johnson isn’t in it.”
Brennan Johnson and Neco Williams had a difficult time.
Given that Johnson missed Spurs’ finest chance in the first half, which Matz Sels was able to save, it was easy to understand why Spurs supporters were upset with him.
Johnson had five touches in the Forest box, but aside from that miss, he didn’t finish any of his three attempted crosses and didn’t add anything.
Additionally, he lost seven duels to Neco Williams, a fellow Welshman who outplayed Johnson the entire time.
The fact that Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi both excelled in the game while Johnson struggled was probably what frustrated Spurs fans the most, but it pleased Forest supporters the most.
Even though Johnson was a Forest fan favorite, the team made the right decision in firing him based on his performance today and how it compares to that of Forest’s current wingers.
