Amid discussions with Kieran Tierney on a Celtic comeback, Mikel Arteta sends a transfer note

Kieran Tierney, a defender for Arsenal, is in talks to rejoin Celtic. Tierney’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, and he may depart in January.

Due to Arsenal’s decision not to accept Tierney‘s one-year contract extension, his contract will expire at the end of the current campaign.

Celtic is in negotiations with the 27-year-old defender, who is currently able to sign a pre-contract agreement with overseas teams.

Whether the Scottish champions attempt to speed up any agreement and sign Tierney in January before he becomes a free agent this summer is still up in the air.

In 2019, Tierney moved from Celtic to Arsenal for an estimated £25 million.

He then became a vital member of the Gunners’ squad and helped them win the FA Cup in 2020.

However, since then, the left-back has fallen in the hierarchy under Mikel Arteta, and he played on loan at Real Sociedad last season.

Tierney probably would have left Arsenal in the summer of last year, but when playing for Scotland at Euro 2024, he injured his hamstring.

Since then, he has only made one appearance, starting for Arsenal in their Carabao Cup quarterfinal victory against Crystal Palace last month.

“All the players that are here, they want to focus on performing and impacting the team, and if something happens there then we will assess it,” Arteta responded on Friday when asked if any players will be let to go in January.
