As the missing Celtic component is identified, Alan Shearer displays his Rangers colors with the Ibrox report from inside the cauldron.

The legend of Newcastle United relished every second of the derby day atmosphere at Ibrox.
After the Newcastle hero witnessed the first Rangers vs. Celtic match of the season, Alan Shearer praised the “incredible atmosphere” at Ibrox.

The former England player traveled north to watch the Glasgow giants play in the Scottish Premiership. Philippe Clement‘s team shocked the Hoops with a 3-0 victory, guaranteeing a flawless start to 2025. As he cried out over the noise from the stands, Shearer, who had previously dismissed the Light Blues’ chances of winning the championship after they had fallen six points behind Celtic, acknowledged that the outcome had taken him by surprise.

When Gary Lineker of The Rest Is Football podcast asked him about his excursion across the border, he responded: “The Rangers fans created an amazing atmosphere, but there weren’t any Celtic supporters present. Given how their season is going, I believe that few people honestly anticipated Rangers to win the game. The game was fantastic, and Rangers won with incredible performance.

The away fan ban is scheduled to terminate when the Hoops next face Rangers in March, but Celtic supporters were once again barred from the away end at Ibrox. Shearer can’t wait to see it, either.

“I assume the next one is at Celtic and they are letting in a small number – maybe 2000-3000 – Rangers fans,” he continued. “That’s what Rangers have to do when Celtic visit Ibrox. When both groups of supporters are present, the atmosphere is simply amazing.
