After Hoffenheim had a change of heart, Leeds United gave Mergim Berisha a potential boost.

So far in January transfer window, Elland Road has not seen any new arrivals. However, it might not be long before Leeds United makes their 2025 first acquisition.

It would be naive to believe that Leeds United isn’t actively seeking new players at the moment, despite rising worries regarding the club’s current lack of transfer activity.
What position Daniel Farke will strengthen first is more of a mystery. The future of Illan Meslier Leeds is questionable, and the team needs a new center-back and possibly a new striker as well, as those two positions appear to be lacking players.

A few strikers have been mentioned. However, considering Patrick Bamford‘s injury, Farke is reportedly happy with his existing choices, who are Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph.

Mergim Berisha is one striker mentioned. According to reports, German forward Berisha is free to depart Hoffenheim during the January transfer window.
Mergim Berisha may receive a boost from Leeds United as a loan deal is rumored.
The most recent intentions for Berisha at Hoffenheim have been made public by the German language publication LAOLA1, along with some new interest from Italy, including Leeds United and Serie A strugglers AC Monza.

According to their report, Hoffenheim may now be persuaded to pursue a loan-to-buy agreement for Berisha instead of a simple sell during the January transfer window. It might indicate that there aren’t many incoming bids for the Germany international who was twice caped.

It’s unclear if Leeds would be amenable to a loan agreement. With just two players now on loan (Joe Rothwell and Manor Solomon), the Whites have room. If Farke can work out an agreement that allows Leeds to choose not to sign Berisha in the event that he turns out to be a bad addition, then all parties stand to gain.
Mergim Berisha to West Ham as soon as possible
There are other teams interested in Berisha besides Leeds at the moment. Werder Bremen and, more recently, West Ham have also reportedly expressed interest.

The Hammers were given the opportunity to sign Berisha, but they didn’t even reply to the offer, according to a new report from TBR Football.

Although it’s a blow to Berisha, he may be able to join Leeds, where he would receive more playing time nevertheless.

There will likely be several other teams vying for the 26-year-old, who has shown that he has potential but needs a new beginning.

Hoffenheim is reportedly seeking £5.8 million for Berisha, which is only half of the amount they spent Augsburg in 2024 to get Berisha.
