The Lyall Cameron transaction has been agreed.
This month, Record Sport first revealed that Rangers were in talks to capture talented teenager Lyall Cameron from Dundee on a free transfer. Cameron’s contract at Dens Park expires in the summer, therefore a successful transfer would result in the 22-year-old midfielder joining at the end of the season.
While finalizing his contract is unlikely to have an immediate impact, it would undoubtedly be a wise move, giving the Gers a head start for next season. However, convincing him to join may be difficult. According to the Daily Mail, Aberdeen are attempting to persuade Cameron that a move to Pittodrie would be better for him in the long run, with the possibility of regular first-team action.
Meanwhile, Dundee manager Tony Docherty is still hoping Cameron will sign a new contract, as fellow academy graduate Josh Mulligan is also nearing the end of his term. Docherty stated, “A couple have came back saying they will sign, while others prefer to wait, which is their choice. Lyall is in that category. But I am still hopeful.”
