A “decisive” midfielder with 15 goal contributions this season is of “strong interest” to Rangers.

If Rangers want to sign any new players during the January transfer window, they are running late.

Only Lille defender Rafael Fernandes has joined the Ibrox team thus far, and they are five days away from “slamming shut” the window.
With Kieran Dowell leaving Ibrox and players like Tom Lawrence and Rabbi Matondo anticipated to follow, the emphasis has instead been on shifting the dead weight.

Rangers are still interested in signing Dundee midfielder Lyall Cameron this January, despite the absence of transfer activity at Ibrox.

Rangers and Lyall Cameron are negotiating.
Rangers are reportedly in negotiations with Lyall Cameron, a Dundee midfielder who has six months left on his contract, according to reports earlier in the year.

Although Dundee manager Tony Docherty said the player was weighing his options, he asserts that no formal approach has been made for the 22-year-old.

It follows Rangers CEO Patrick Stewart’s admission that the Gers could “speed up” the January signing of a pre-planned player.

Theoretically, Rangers might negotiate Lyall Cameron‘s early release from Dundee by paying a transfer fee after agreeing to a pre-contract with him.

Prior to a Scottish Premiership match this season, Philippe Clement has praised the midfielder, calling Cameron a “decisive” player.

Cameron has scored eight goals and provided seven assists for Dundee this season, for a total of 15 goal contributions.

Rangers continue to show a lot of interest in the Dundee star.
Cameron has not been active in recent days due to the prevailing transfer rumors that he was linked to teams like Aberdeen.

The Ibrox team is still highly interested in Lyall Cameron, so that doesn’t mean Rangers aren’t still negotiating a deal for him.

Rangers “retain a strong interest” in reaching an agreement with Lyall Cameron on a pre-contract, as the Rangers Review clarified earlier this week.

It’s unclear if that will lead to the Dundee star moving to Ibrox in January, but it’s obvious the player is a target for the Ibrox team.

Nils Koppen‘s goal of signing one homegrown Premiership player per season aligns with Lyall Cameron, who has been a standout for Dundee this season.
