Tottenham: Spurs inquire about Evan Ferguson

Gary Lineker has lately urged his previous team, Brighton & Hove Albion, to sign the striker.

Tottenham Hotspur have recently inquired about Evan Ferguson‘s availability, and a fresh report details whether Brighton & Hove Albion are willing to move the striker.

What is the most recent Tottenham transfer news?
Ange Postecoglou will now have to focus on recruiting a successor during the last phases of the summer transfer window, following Harry Kane‘s £100 million move to Bayern Munich, and contact has already been made with Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.

Despite his desire to transfer overseas, a deal for Lukaku is a definite possibility, with the Blues holding out for a sum of €45 million (£39 million), despite interest from Italian heavyweights Juventus.

According to a recent TEAMtalk article, Elye Wahi, Gift Orban, and Jonathan David have all been connected in recent days, with Totttenham clearly looking to bring in a young forward, and they have now made their first move for Ferguson.

According to TEAMtalk sources, Spurs have inquired about whether Brighton would be prepared to transfer the Irish striker this summer, with intermediaries in communication about his potential availability.

However, it appears that the Seagulls have no intention of moving the 18-year-old, who signed a long-term contract with the club in April to commit his future to the club.

With only two weeks to find a successor for Kane, the Lilywhites are conducting “due dilligence” on their choices. Their inquiry follows a post by Gary Lineker on X, in which the Match of the Day host urged his old side to make a bid for Ferguson:

“In Fergie time, Evan Ferguson scores.” He’s a natural goal scorer. If I were in charge of recruitment at @SpursOfficial, I’d take a chance on him to replace Kane. Please accept my apologies to the fans of @OfficialBHAFC.”

How talented is Evan Ferguson?
As Lineker pointed out, the youngster has already made an impact in the Premier League this season, scoring the game-winning goal in Brighton‘s 4-1 victory against Luton Town on Saturday.

Despite being only 18 years old, the Republic of Ireland international burst onto the scene with the Seagulls last season, scoring 10 goals in all competitions, indicating he has the potential to be a quality Premier League player.

Sky Sports reporter Melissa Reddy has dubbed the boy a “potential £100 million phenom,” while Roberto De Zerbi feels he has what it takes to reach the pinnacle, saying:

“He’s already a great player, and I believe he’ll go on to be one of the best players, one of the best strikers in the Premier League.”

However, the Brighton forward is now under contract for £20,000 per week until June 2028, which means his current club is under no pressure to sell him, and it appears like Tottenham will miss out.

Ferguson, who has compared himself to England captain Kane because of his ability to drop into midfield, may be a great substitute for Kane, but Tottenham may have to go elsewhere this summer.
