Leeds United are set to receive a £40 million boost as a result of the Elland Road development.

According to Football Insider, a new stadium could increase Leeds United’s matchday earnings to more than £40 million per year.

The 49ers Enterprises have laid out plans to enhance Elland Road since taking bought the club this summer.

According to Football Insider, the 49ers have already drawn up plans to expand Elland Road to a capacity of 55,000.

According to the Daily Mail, Leeds‘ new ownership group has set aside £200 million for stadium improvements once the club returns to the Premier League.

Plans are expected to be postponed as long as Leeds remain in the Championship, and the Whites have started their 2023/24 season poorly, drawing with Cardiff and losing to Birmingham City.

According to Viva Mukherjee, a chartered accountant and football financial specialist, a stadium expansion may help Leeds improve earnings by up to 65%.

“The stadium’s current capacity is 37,890 and plans to expand the stadium appear to involve rebuilding or renovating the West Stand to increase capacity to 55,000.”

“According to Leeds’ most recent finances, matchday revenue was £24.5 million in 2021/22.

“At the time, their average attendance was fantastic, with fans filling an average of 96% of the capacity across the Premier League calendar.”

“That £24.5 million figure was achieved despite Leeds having the Premier League’s second-lowest average season ticket price of £646.”

“They also have a 22,000-person waiting list for season tickets, so filling a 55,000-person stadium won’t be a problem.”

“Overall, I expect matchday revenue at a new stadium to rise to £40.4 million, a 65 percent increase over current revenue.”
