“I believe this is a mistake”- Carlton Palmer says in a transfer warning to Leeds United.

Leeds United may come to regret trading Cody Drameh, according to Carlton Palmer.

Carlton Palmer, a former Leeds United player, feels his former club will make a mistake if they trade Cody Drameh this summer amid Premier League interest.

Cody Drameh is being pursued by West Ham United.
The 21-year-old is highly rated, but he has struggled to establish himself as a regular at Elland Road in recent years, with most of his appearances coming on loan.

Drameh joined Luton in January after a tremendously successful tenure with Cardiff and played a key role in their promotion to the top division.

So he returned to Leeds this summer with a high stock, but there has been uncertainty regarding Drameh‘s future throughout the window, as he is in the final year of his contract with the club.

West Ham United are the latest team to be linked with the teenager, who has yet to appear in a league game for Daniel Farke this season.

As a result, a deal is very much feasible in the next eight days, but Palmer outlined to FLW why it would be a risk for Leeds to sell such an intriguing prospect.

Cody spent last season on loan at Luton Town, where he excelled and assisted them in reaching the Premier League.” With a year left on his contract and no sign of an extension, it would make sense for Leeds to sell him rather than risk losing him for nothing.

“It’s odd that Leeds would want to get rid of a young, talented right-sided player who has proven his worth and can play at a higher level than the Championship.” “I believe this is a mistake.”

Will Cody Drameh be sold by Leeds?
The reality is that the contract situation puts the Yorkshire club in a tough position because they know Drameh has the option to depart next summer.

So it’s natural to investigate offers, and the fact that Farke hasn’t included Drameh in his best XI makes it difficult to imagine Drameh staying.

As Palmer points out, he has previously shown himself at this level, so he knows he is good enough, but the Leeds manager will understandably want players who are committed to the long term. Overall, it’s not working for either party right now, and a sale appears to be in the works ahead of the deadline, which is Friday, September 1.

Would Cody Drameh be missed by Leeds?
Even if you understand why Leeds would sell Drameh, that doesn’t imply the decision was correct.

Luke Ayling has had a mixed season so far, and while he is a perfectly capable right-back at this level, there is a sense that Drameh has a much greater ceiling. He is an excellent one-on-one defender with the tenacity to move up and down the pitch, which is why he succeeded as a wing-back for the Hatters.

With that in mind, losing Drameh would be a long-term loss for Leeds, and if he goes on to have the career that some believe he is capable of, there may be some resentment among supporters for how the club treated the defender in the past.

Previous managers appeared hesitant to give him an opportunity in the first team, which will be a major factor in his departure.
