According to The Athletic journalist Phil Hay, Leeds United forward Sam Greenwood is expected to sign a season-long loan deal with Middlesbrough.
The Elland Road club is also reportedly considering offers for Leo Hjelde, Darko Gyabi, and Cody Drameh.
The aforementioned four players are not in Daniel Farke‘s immediate plans for the Whites, and some more Leeds players who are not liked by the German coach might follow them out of Elland Road before Friday’s transfer deadline.
Greenwood made his second appearance of 2023–24 in Friday night’s Carabao Cup loss to Salford City. He previously came off the bench in the third Championship game of the year against West Bromwich Albion.
The 21-year-old played 23 appearances in all competitions last season, recording a goal and three assists, but Farke is not a fan, so he will be eager to make an impression at Riverside Stadium under Michael Carrick.
The Boro have yet to win a league game this season, and they have suffered three losses and a draw. They are anxious for any assistance they can get in the market to regain the form that helped them reach the play-offs last year.
Gyabi has also made two appearances so far this season, but the midfielder who graduated from the Manchester City academy is lower on the list of options, and some Championship clubs are anticipated to approach him in the near future.
Drameh has spent the last two seasons on loan from Leeds, and despite coming off the bench against Shrewsbury Town and Ipswich Town this season, the 21-year-old full-back could be departing again.
Hjelde spent last season on loan with Rotherham United, and Farke’s desire to get rid of the Norwegian left-back seems surprising.
The 20-year-old played 90 minutes against Salford yesterday night, 45 minutes against Shrewsbury, and the first half against Cardiff City in the first league game of the season.
