Iheanacho was heavily rumored to be leaving Leicester City this summer, but nothing materialized.
According to Soccernet, Nottingham Forest of the English Premier League had a serious interest in Kelechi Iheanacho this summer but were unable to acquire him by virtue of Leicester City’s asking price.
Iheanacho, a 26-year-old forward, has experienced a rollercoaster of a time since joining Leicester City in 2017. The Nigerian attacker has twice been named player of the season, but there have also been instances where he played only a minor role for the team.
After a dismal season in which they placed 18th, Leicester City was demoted from the Premier League. With just one year remaining on his contract and Iheanacho being their best player that season, there were discussions about him leaving the team.
Although Crystal Palace, Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Nottingham Forest were all mentioned in connection with the Super Eagles striker, nothing actual transpired.
Iheanacho was reportedly a top priority for Forest, but they were unable to match Leicester City’s £20 million asking price. The result was that the talks broke down.
