Leeds United will make changes as Daniel Farke considers a rotation against Hull City.

Daniel Farke has options to keep things fresh when Leeds United go to Hull City on Wednesday night.

Leeds United‘s Championship games are starting to come thick and fast. The Whites’ return to the second tier was relatively easy, with five league games in the first five weeks, but the competition is starting to heat up.

Starting last Sunday with a 3-0 win over Millwall, the Whites play six games in four weeks, including two midweek games before the season’s second international break. The first of those night games is on Wednesday, when United travel down the M62 to the MKM Stadium to face Liam Rosenior‘s unbeaten Hull City.

As a result, Daniel Farke, who made just one change against Millwall, will have to manage his team in the coming weeks, and he may rotate in a number of places on Wednesday night. Here’s how the German might try to keep things interesting in East Yorkshire.

Defence

Continuity is essential when it comes to developing a dependable and authoritative backline, but Farke has choices in case of tired legs or a small knock. Liam Cooper is on the verge of making a comeback and, if found fit enough, may make his debut against his hometown club.

Charlie Cresswell could certainly use some minutes if Joe Rodon needs a break following his heroic performance at The Den, while Jamie Shackleton is ready to fill in on either flank if Luke Ayling or Sam Byram need to rotate.

Midfield

There was some concern over Ethan Ampadu near the end of the game in south London following a hefty collision in his own box. When asked about Ampadu’s status, Farke appeared optimistic that he would be able to play on Wednesday, but if there is any risk, he may be one player rested with Ilia Gruev and Glen Kamara available.

Farke has already stated that he is concerned about the amount of game time Archie Grey receives, and depending on the other adjustments made, Wednesday may be an appropriate moment to make a move.

Attack

The more time Farke‘s front four has on the pitch with each other, the better they will be, and given how they ripped through Millwall’s backline on Sunday, the manager may be hesitant to make too many changes. Jaidon Anthony, on the other hand, is striving for a start and had a few bright moments after coming off the bench to replace Wilfried Gnonto at The Den.

Dan James will not want to be labelled as an impact sub, and he’ll be eager to show Farke what he’s capable of right from the start, especially against the club where it all began for him. Ian Poveda will also be seeking for playing time.

After a tough performance against the Lions, any alterations may probably depend on who needs a rest.
