Naby Keita, a midfielder for Liverpool, has been forced to withdraw from the Guinea team due to an injury
Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, was taken aback when Keita was named to Guinea’s squad for friendlies against Algeria and the Ivory Coast.
In contrast, Klopp predicted that Keita will return “somewhere in October,” not in time for the international window (via the official club website).
Due to a muscle ailment, the former RB Leipzig player hasn’t played a single minute for the Reds this year.
Keita’s resignation and return to Merseyside have been formally verified by the Guinean Football Federation.
According to them, their “technical personnel” made the ultimate choice and chose to implement Liverpool’s treatment guidelines.
Both the player and the association are making the right choice by doing this. Rushing Keita back might have made his problem worse and strained ties between Liverpool and the Guinean FA.
The Reds will be hoping that he can make a meaningful contribution before the World Cup despite the lack of clarity surrounding his exact return date as they have a stretch of 13 games in 42 days.
However, the £120,000 per week player won’t be taking part in the Champions League before the new year, as the Reds decided to leave him out of the squad.
