The game appeared to be heading for a straightforward 1-0 win until Pascal Struijk fired an inch-perfect ball through to Patrick Bamford, who was met by an onrushing Asmir Begovic.
QPR’s goalie immediately dived for the ball, sending Bamford to the ground and earning Begovic a red card.
It was for good reason, too, with replays revealing that the ‘keeper made no touch with Bamford, but he was sent out, and Lyndon Dykes took the bullet and went in goal – untested for the remainder of the game as Bamford’s free-kick struck the wall.
