West Bromwich Albion are concerned about ticket pricing ahead of their match against Coventry City.

West Bromwich Albion have expressed reservations over the pricing of away tickets for their match against Coventry City on October 30, but the final decision was out of their hands, according to Lewis Cox.

On 4 October, the Express and Star journalist published the news on his personal Twitter account, after the club announced that adult tickets had gone on sale for £37.

The game will be shown live on Sky Sports on a Monday night during a financial crisis. Cox has termed the high price points as “awful.”

A bad judgement by the clubs

With the decision out of their hands, West Brom‘s appeal and worries about the high price have clearly fallen on deaf ears, with Coventry adhering to their pricing at the risk of discouraging visiting fans.

The journey from the Black Country to the West Midlands is one of the shorter ones for Baggies fans, but at that price, combined with what will be paid for travel on a Monday night, fans would be forgiven for passing on this one, especially given that they can watch on Sky from the comfort of their own homes.

Coventry‘s decision is terrible, as it risks alienating portions of the away fans in the sake of additional funding for the club. The inevitable response will be numerous complaints from visiting fans, but West Brom’s protest was ineffective.

The Football Supporters Association has long advocated for lower ticket pricing, with their catchphrase “Twenty’s Plenty” and over 12,000 signatures on a petition calling for away tickets to be confined to a £20 price ceiling.
