Tottenham’s decision to reject a €30 million bid for striker Gift Orban may have been the correct one, at least based on his current play.
Today’s edition of Het Laatste Nieuws features the player and his’serious slump’ at the start of the season.
They explain that, while the athlete remains himself, gregarious and cheerful, his on-field performances are not what they were last season.
His last goal occurred on August 20th, which is an eternity for a striker who was a’sensation’ previous season and scored routinely. ‘Things have gone terribly wrong’ this year.
It’s been a significant decline for a player who was heavily linked with a move away over the summer, with Tottenham in particular interested.
They eventually backed out of a potential move because ‘the gamble was too huge’ at the time, and they wanted to see more from the striker, believing he still needed to prove himself at a higher level.
They are now observing ‘with suspicion,’ studying how he works in this current circumstance and how, if at all, he emerges out of it.
Tottenham appears to have made the correct decision to walk away and not pay the asking price, despite the necessity to replace Harry Kane.
