After being rejected against Coventry City, Blackburn Rovers’ manager claims he has “no clue.”

Blackburn Rovers boss Jon Dahl Tomasson expressed his disappointment at the “strange” decision to disallow a goal against Coventry City

Blackburn Rovers boss Jon Dahl Tomasson claimed the referee had “no clue” whether or not to award a goal for his side against Coventry City. The visiting boss was clearly disappointed that Rovers had a goal disallowed early in the second half, calling the incident a “strange situation”.

Rovers fell to a fourth successive Championship defeat as they lost 1-0 at the CBS Arena when Haji Wright’s late header earned the points for the Sky Blues in an otherwise tight game. Tomasson’s men thought they had gone ahead in the 50th minute when Andrew Moran worked his way into the box and challenged goalkeeper Ben Wilson.

Referee Jeremy Simpson appeared to initially give the goal but, after consulting with his linesman, then ruled it out for a foul on the keeper who looked to have had the ball in his grasp before it ended up in the back of the net.

“From my distance it was a strange situation wasn’t it,” said Tomasson. “The referee had no clue if it was a goal or not. The linesman did nothing and after a short chat suddenly it was a free kick. I haven’t seen it back, then after that we have an extremely big moment, maybe one or two against one with the ‘keeper, then we are leading 1-0, but a good performance from my players for sure.
