Liam Kitching gave his thoughts on the Norwich performance, what he can provide on the pitch and his targets after the international break.
City battled hard to earn a point against Norwich after Ben Gibson’s late own-goal cancelled out Jonathan Rowe’s first half strike.
Mark Robins’ men nearly claimed all three points at the death but Milan Van Ewijk and Tatsuhiro Sakamoto’s efforts were both denied at close range.
Reflecting on the result…
“We are a little disappointed, I thought we had some good chances towards the end and sneak all three points.
“Looking back on the week it has been great, seven points with some tough tests in there.
“In the final 15 minutes, I feel the fans were really good and it put even more pressure on them (Norwich). It is like having a 12th man behind you giving you that extra push.”
The chances City had…
“We had to be patient and the coaching staff said the chances would come. They did in the end, and last 15 minutes we were on top, and we did what the gaffer wanted at halftime, keep doing what we are doing.
“The chances came, and I think Norwich got a bit lucky at the end.
“Tats (Sakamoto) made a late run into the box, unlucky not to score and I am sure his goal will come soon.”
Looking back at the Norwich goal…
“It was the first time we were troubled really, obviously they had chances outside the box but nothing really clear cut.
“It was unfortunate for us, but that is football, that happens and we came back well and got a good point in the end.”
On City’s late equaliser…
“It is what you need to do, keep grinding the other teams down and keep moving the ball.
“It was a great cross from Milan (Van Ewijk) and that is what happens when you put the ball into those areas.
“It is hard to defend those balls so I know how it feels but it has got us a point so I am happy with that.”
His first league start…
“There is some great lads in there and I am all for the team.
“Whether the gaffer picks me or not, I am still there supporting the boys and we are trying to do everything we can get the three points.”
Gaining more starts for the club after the break…
“I want to play as many games as I can for Coventry and try and cement my place in that team.
“Coming off the back of last year there is a lot of expectation. I was at Wembley and I saw these fans. Once they get going, they are amazing, and I am sure the other teams feel that.
The competition at the back…
“It is always healthy competition, and we are always pushing each other in training.
“That is what you want in the team. If you have competition, it will make you play better on the gameday.”
