“Go” – A TalkSPORT pundit advises Ange’s “reliable” Spurs player to leave the club.

He appears to be forced to depart…

Despite manager Ange Postecoglou‘s apparent rejuvenation of Tottenham Hotspur, one “reliable” Spurs player has been advised that he must quit the club when he can in 2024.

Spurs’ form under Ange Postecoglou
Spurs have won six of their first eight league games under Postecoglou, going unbeaten in the process. The one blemish on his record is a second-round EFL Cup penalty shootout loss to Fulham, but given that they are now top of the Premier League, supporters are unlikely to notice. Certain Spurs players are also finding new life under Postecoglou after being benched by former manager Antonio Conte last season.

Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr, who scarcely received a look in 2022/2023, are now flourishing as Postecoglou’s sole dual midfield pivot in front of the back four. In terms of defence, both Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero have contributed significantly to Tottenham’s early-season success. Van de Ven appears to be one of Wolfsburg’s best summer signings, while Romero has grown and straightened out the rashness in his game.

Forwards such as James Maddison, Son Heung-min, and Dejan Kulusevski are succeeding, particularly the former two, who have eight goals and five assists between them in the league so far.

Who is leaving Tottenham Hotspur?

While the aforementioned dazzle as members of Postecoglou’s generally consistent starting elevens, there are some regrettable casualties of Tottenham‘s recent form. Indeed, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Eric Dier have found themselves on the outside of Spurs lineups thus far. Hojbjerg has been linked with a January move to Juventus, while Dier is expected to finish out his contract and leave on a free transfer next year.

Last season, the latter player was recognised as a “reliable player” with excellent potential to become a top defender. That, according to Conte, who once told the press:

“What I can tell you is that Eric has greatly improved since I arrived.” We’re talking about a dependable player who gives his all in every game. He is not a player who alternates between strong performances and slumps. He plays every game and provides excellent continuity in his job. I can also tell you that he is a truly nice guy with a strong drive to work and grow. He understands that there is room for development, and I see in his eyes every day the desire to grow stronger, to become a top defender.”

There is clearly a player there who Postecoglou dislikes, therefore his best plan of action may be to find a way out as quickly as possible. That attitude was repeated this week [11 October, 12.50pm] by talkSPORT pundit Danny Murphy, who told the broadcaster on live radio:

“He [Dier] has put himself in a bind. Obviously, with a change in management, you may find yourself out of favour, and you must cut your links and depart.”
