We’re not even at the point in the season where Leeds’ promotion bid has settled into a clear race against a slew of obvious contenders.

Despite this, measures are already in place in the Elland Road boardroom to assure Daniel Farke‘s support in 2024.

What’s the most recent news?

According to LeedsLive, Angus Kinnear’s meeting with the Supporters’ Advisory Board revealed that the club is already planning for the January transfer window.

The club has two loan spaces left in its squad after signing Joe Rodon, Djed Spence, and Jaidon Anthony on loan this season, and Kinnear has stated that it was a deliberate decision.

It implies that if Leeds want to bring in new players in the new year, the club will most likely look to the loan market for new faces, with general finances available to Farke if necessary owing to potential injury problems.

Is this good news for Farke?
It’s encouraging to see that we already have a plan in place for when the new year arrives in two and a half months.

We’ve been stumbling into January without much of a plan to sign players, and it’s backfired on us, leaving us short for the second part of the season.

With these acquisitions, the club has clearly understood that the best approach to find the right level of players at the right kind of value is through the loan market.

Signing players on a permanent basis is clearly not a viable option in January, given that fees are inflated or players are free to leave on the cheap for good cause.

It should now be up to the revised recruitment system of the board to unearth those players who can assist Leeds cross the finish line in the promotion race.
